Health resort contribution in Marktoberdorf
Marktoberdorf is not only the economic engine of the district, a city of art and culture, a culinary island in the Allgäu and a centre for major events, but also a state-approved resort.
In order to be able to offer our guests a good service and a memorable stay, we as the town of Marktoberdorf levy a visitor's tax. We use this contribution to maintain our cycle paths and hiking trails and are constantly expanding our range of services and investing in additional services.

allgäu Mobil
The town of Marktoberdorf is a partner of allgäumobil im Schlosspark. Thanks to the income from the visitor's tax, our guests can use their guest card to explore the entire Ostallgäu, the Pfaffenwinkel, Oberammergau and as far as Garmisch by bus and train free of charge from Marktoberdorf.
Hallenbad
The indoor and outdoor pool in Marktoberdorf offers sport, fun and relaxation for young and old. Experience unlimited swimming fun with the whole family at family-friendly prices.
Whether in the indoor area with a 25 metre swimming pool and children's pool or in the heated outdoor pool with relaxing massage jets and whirlpool - there is definitely something for young and old. You can relax and unwind during a visit to the wellness area with various saunas. The bistro provides refreshments for your physical well-being with an appealing food and drinks menu.
Our guests receive discounted admission with their guest card.
Hiking in summer and winter
Marktoberdorf is centrally located in the hiking adventure area of the castle park. The town is the starting and finishing point for many regional and national hiking routes. To explore the surrounding area in summer as well as in winter and to experience nature, our guests with a guest card have the opportunity to hire suitable equipment, such as our hiking poles, Nordic walking poles or snowshoes, free of charge once per stay from the tourist office. If you would prefer to explore the area accompanied by a local hiking guide, please contact us.

Guided e-bike city tour
Our guided e-bike city cycle tour takes you through the most beautiful corners around Marktoberdorf. With views of the hilly landscape, various ponds, lakes and moors, it is reminiscent of a unique landscape park. This adventure area is also known as the castle park, as King Ludwig II built his personal fairytale castle, Neuschwanstein Castle, with a breathtaking view of the Allgäu Alps. We immerse ourselves in the history of the Allgäu and the town of Marktoberdorf.

Over 25 years ago, our service partner Andi's Fahrradwerkstatt in Lengenwang turned his hobby into a profession and now offers you his range of bikes at a reduced price in Lengenwang.
The bikes are new, state of the art and equipped with high-quality components. All bikes are regularly checked by him so that you are always travelling with a well-maintained and safe bike.

Klette am Ette - Forest ropes course
The beautifully situated climbing forest at Ettwieser Weiher near Marktoberdorf invites the whole family. There are 11 courses of varying difficulty, so there is something for everyone. There is a small kiosk and the neighbouring bathing lake invites you to take a dip.

The visitor's tax will be charged from 01.01.2022.
The contribution is € 1.20 incl. VAT per day of stay for persons aged 16 and over.
Exempt from the visitor's tax are
- Persons staying exclusively for the purpose of visiting family members.
- Persons staying in the municipal area solely for the purpose of exercising their professional activity and
- Persons staying in the municipal area exclusively for educational purposes, in particular guests of the Bay. Music Academy and state institutions (e.g. boarding school).
- Pilgrims who are on the Way of St James.
- The accompanying person for people with a severely disabled person's pass with the B or H mark.
The prerequisite for exemption from the visitor's tax is the presentation of appropriate evidence to the town of Marktoberdorf.
